Future Heritage

In 2020, Poltrona Frau introduced a new collection called 'Future Heritage,' which includes iconic items - new models, important reissues, and reimagined past icons embodying the company's values that are relevant today, tomorrow, and always.

The rapidly changing world inspired the creation of this collection. For the new lifestyle, Poltrona Frau offers a meticulously designed timeless design that blends various materials and space functions, easily adapting to future requirements. The concept of timeless classics has always been dear to the company, and 'Future Heritage' has become its most concentrated embodiment.

In 2020, the iconic Vanity Fair armchair, a symbol of Poltrona Frau, celebrates its 90th anniversary. To mark this important milestone, the company dedicated a reissue of the model, created in collaboration with Roberto Lazzeroni. The anniversary edition, Vanity Fair XC, preserves all the iconic features - rounded Art Deco lines, furniture nails upholstered in leather along the edge of the backrest and armrests, a solid beechwood frame, and the beauty of Pelle Frau® leather upholstery. Additionally, the chair has become even more comfortable and gained new proportions in line with modern ergonomics: a wide and deep seat measuring 55 x 63 cm, a chair base of 100 x 100 cm, and a height of 97 cm. The model is also available with fabric upholstery.

The Chester sofa range, whose origins trace back to 1912, has been expanded with two new two-seater modules featuring a curved silhouette with or without armrests. The distinctive feature of Chester - the classic capitonné stitching on the backrest - unites the new models with the historical ones, while the solid seat cushion and slender metal legs enhance comfort and create a more relaxed and light silhouette. With the introduction of new forms, the number of possible combinations in the Chester Line modules has significantly increased - from straight multi-seater structures to enclosed circular ones. The upholstery options include Pelle Frau® leather or leather combined with fabric from the Poltrona Frau collection.

The Martha armchair, designed by Roberto Lazzeroni, now has a new version - a rocking chair with a solid ash wood base available in two finish options ("wenge" and "moka"). The ironic design, dynamic lines, soft forms, and contrasting materials are the essence of the relaxed and modern elegance of the rocking chair. The combination of materials and colors emphasizes the smoothness and lightness of the chair. The outer part of the frame is upholstered in Saddle Extra leather, while the inner part can be upholstered in contrasting leather from other Pelle Frau® collections or fabric. The combination of materials is highlighted by an elegant hand-sewn stitch. Completing the model is a soft seat cushion with a removable cover in Pelle Frau® leather or fabric.

The Times Lounge chair, designed by the duo Spalvieri & Del Ciotto, continues the concept of comfort and timeless aesthetics that was introduced in the eponymous bed model. The chair features an ultra-light wooden frame with a soft structure attached to it, filled with padding that graciously envelops the sitter like a custom-tailored suit. The seat and backrest frame attachments made of Pelle Frau® leather serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, complementing the design of the removable soft part of the chair upholstered in fabric or Pelle Frau® leather.

The new Viola dining chair, designed by AB Concept studio, showcases a refined interpretation of classic design, reflecting Scandinavian ideas and luxury in a modern context. The solid ash wood frame is complemented by an elegant weaving of thin leather cords, connecting the wooden elements of the frame and serving as a significant design element. The harmonious and ergonomic proportions of the chair, combined with a soft seat, ensure maximum comfort even during long periods of sitting. Removable cushion covers can be made from Pelle Frau® leather or fabric.

In the 2020 collection, the legendary Kyoto lounge table found its place, an original design by Gianfranco Frattini from 1974, which is integral to the "Future Heritage" concept. This model brings together the craftsmanship traditions of Italy and Japan, which Frattini and his longtime collaborator, the cabinetmaker Pierluigi Ghianda, studied during a trip to the Land of the Rising Sun in the 1970s. It was in Kyoto where Frattini conceived the idea of skillfully joining wooden modular elements, which became the basis for the table of the same name. The design of the table is entirely self-sufficient, highlighting the beauty of American walnut texture and requiring no additional decoration. The Kyoto table is available in two versions: square, with sides of 102 cm and a height of 32 cm, and rectangular - 102 x 49 cm, also 32 cm in height. The wooden legs connect to the tabletop like a constructor, without additional fastenings, so their arrangement can be changed as desired. For last year's collection, designer Tristan Auer designed three Grant ottomans - oval, square, and round shapes - expressing the idea of mobility typical of modern interiors. This year, the series was expanded with versions featuring storage systems inside the rectangular ottoman and an opening lid that doubles as a seat. Like in the base models, the sides are decorated with weaving made from Pelle Frau® leather strips matching the seat upholstery. The inner part is lined with dense black fabric. The opening mechanism is equipped with a system that holds the lid in place when open and eases the closing process.

The new collection also includes a series of decorative pillows called Journey, designed by Giulio Ridolfo and Chiara Novello. The characteristic elements of the series are the weaving on the front surface and the new colors of the ColorSphere® system. The pillows are available in two sizes - square with sides of 47 cm and rectangular - 35 x 57 cm, and in three color combinations: Pier - green shades, Tannery - natural leather tones, Gion - blue-purple shades complemented by a contrasting yellow.
